Jennie Poh was born in London and spent her formative years in Borneo, returning to England at the age of 9. Jennie trained as a ballet dancer, and then went on to study Fine Art at Surrey Institute of Art & Design.
Jennie primarily works in acrylic and mixed media, and her canvases are layered with neutral translucent elements that overlap one another, gradually revealing minimal simplicity.
It was the stark and bleak Norfolk landscape in winter that inspired Jennie’s neutral colour palette. This resulted in her work uniting negative space and mark making, creating peaceful movement and energy.
Her paintings ask the viewer to consider the subject matter and to immerse themselves in a place where tension eases and a sense of tranquility occurs.
